What's new

LargeImage-SummerFruits.jpgThis is the season to be making the most of the incredible fruits and vegetables on offer. UK strawberries and raspberries are jam packed with vitamins and antioxidants, as are cherries, gooseberries, rhubarb and blueberries. On the greener side of things, peas make a delicious snack (kids love shelling them) and are full of vitamin C.

NutritionistEmma Bardwell, always recommends buying seasonal produce in bulk while you can, gently washing and freezing so you can enjoy in months to come. This is a great way to keep nutrients in tact too. Try adding fruits to salads, they not only taste delicious but also help your body to absorb iron from greens. Grapes, strawberries, pomegranate seeds and figs all work exceptionally well with a simple salad of lambs lettuce, watercress, spring greens and radishes. Add in some new potatoes and a good protein source such as halloumi, tofu, lentils or organic chicken and you've got yourself the ultimate summer salad.
